We’re beetbox; a unique STEAM based program with a seed to table twist. The mission is twofold: arm children with skills for their 21st century world and increase academic performance, while positively impacting eating habits. We do so by getting back to the basics. Children can quite literally “get their hands dirty” and explore their natural environment.

Please find below all of the content you’ll need to begin your STEAM based exploration. We suggest reading through our welcome letter below, then lesson plan, followed by our instructional video. You can pause and play as you go for ease of use. Click on any image below for additional supporting materials.

Helpful Information:

    • Recipe cards are for children’s use to help follow along and participate in the cooking process. 1st and 2nd grade versions hold a place for children to write and/or draw the recipe themselves.

    • Instructional videos are designed for teacher/parent use. Pause and play at your leisure for bonus activity demonstrations and helpful teaching tips.

    • Scientific Journals can be used by any age group. They’re a great place for children to draw, write, and record! You can even take photos of any experiments or work, print them out, and paste them into journals.

    • We recommend printing shopping lists and engaging children in the produce picking process at the store or farmer’s market.

    • Don’t forget to share, tag, and comment with us on social media! We love to share and see your work. Find us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!

Spinach time lapse with soil cross section. Revealing both - how spinach leaves and roots grow. Root development is best visible at germination and 30 days in. Those brighter dots in the soil, moving quickly, are saprotrophs - bugs and worms that feed on nonliving organic matter.
