Easy Pumpkin Slime

Halloween time is here, and have no fear! We have an easy, affordable twist on the current craze that is slime. Most classrooms (whether you celebrate halloween or not) are taking advantage of these sensory loaded squash family members to complete seed studies, cook recipes (we guarantee you haven’t seen this one here , give it a try!) , or just enjoy the overall fun fall theme.

We made this ooey -gooey pumpkin slime last week with 5 classrooms, and let’s just say it was a hit!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 large Tupperware container with lid

  • 2 cups of school glue

  • 4 or 5 tablespoon contact solution

  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda

  • 1 cup of pumpkin seeds or pumpkin guts * see note below

  • Pie seasoning (optional)

  • Orange food coloring (optional)

Directions:

  1. Pour your entire bottle of glue into your large Tupperware container.

  2. Stir in ½ teaspoon baking soda until smooth.

  3. Add 2 or 3 few drops of orange food coloring and stir thoroughly.

  4. Add 1 tablespoon of contact solution a little at time. Your slime should begin to bind instantly.

  5. Thoroughly mix very very well until not longer sticky. Start with a large wooden spoon, and as slime thickens, use hands. (Children will love this step!)

  6. If needed, add a drop or two more of contact solution until the slime is smooth and no longer sticky.

  7. Sprinkle in pie seasoning

  8. ENJOY! Explore and have fun. Store with lid for up to a week.

  9. If adding pumpkin guts or seeds, add one spoonful at a time for children to mix, stir, and press into their slime. Please note, in using the fresh pumpkin, slime should be refrigerated and disposed of within two days.
